Description :
  • The Transport Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials, components, and finished goods within the automotive steel components manufacturing facility and to external locations. This role ensures timely delivery, adherence to safety regulations, and proper handling of automotive parts and materials, contributing to smooth production operations and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities :
  • Operate company vehicles, including trucks, vans, and forklifts, to transport materials, components, and finished goods within the manufacturing facility and to external locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition, and report any maintenance issues to the maintenance department.
  • Load and unload materials and components using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, ensuring proper handling and securing of loads to prevent damage during transport.
  • Follow established delivery routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials and components to designated locations within the facility and to external customers or suppliers.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating company vehicles, including speed limits, traffic signals, and safe driving practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle inspections, mileage, and fuel consumption, and submit required paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues or delays that may arise.
  • Inspect materials and components for damage or defects upon receipt, and report any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures when handling hazardous materials or chemicals, including proper labeling, storage, and disposal methods.
  • Participate in safety training programs and meetings to stay informed about safety regulations and best practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including vehicles and loading docks, to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, such as cycle counts and stocktaking, to ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, addressing any questions or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Collaborate with other team members to improve transportation processes and efficiency, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulatory requirements, related to transportation and logistics operations.
  • Assist in training new transport drivers on company procedures and safety protocols.
Technical Skills :
  • Commercial Driving License (CDL) - Possession of a valid Commercial Driving License (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the type of vehicle operated (e.g., Class A, Hazmat) and adherence to all CDL requirements and regulations.
  • Lorry driver - Certified proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment for loading, unloading, and moving materials within the manufacturing facility and warehouse areas.
Soft Skills :
  • Communication - Effectively communicate delivery schedules, delays, or any issues encountered during transport to dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members, ensuring clear and timely information flow.
