Description :
- Supervises and conducts research and development activities related to material testing and analysis, focusing on metallurgical properties and performance of steel components in automotive applications.
- Provides technical expertise and leadership in the evaluation and optimization of steel materials for fine blanking, precision machining, and other automotive manufacturing processes.
- Collaborates with engineers and technicians to develop and implement material testing methodologies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
Responsibilities :
- Develops and implements material testing plans for new and existing steel components, including tensile testing, hardness testing, impact testing, and microstructural analysis.
- Conducts failure analysis investigations to determine root causes of material defects or performance issues, preparing detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Supervises and mentors junior engineers and technicians in the execution of material testing protocols, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to safety regulations.
- Collaborates with product design engineers to identify and select optimal steel grades and processing parameters for achieving desired mechanical properties and durability.
- Maintains a comprehensive database of material testing data, ensuring traceability and accessibility for engineering teams.
- Analyzes material test results using statistical methods and data visualization tools to identify trends and optimize material selection and processing parameters.
- Stays abreast of advancements in metallurgical testing techniques and industry best practices, incorporating new technologies and methodologies into the R&D process.
- Provides technical expertise and support to production teams regarding material properties, processing parameters, and potential issues related to steel component performance.
- Develops and conducts training programs for engineers and technicians on metallurgical testing procedures and quality control methods.
- Maintains laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring calibration, accuracy, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborates with external testing laboratories and research institutions to access specialized equipment and expertise when required.
- Prepares technical reports, presentations, and documentation related to material testing results, findings, and recommendations.
- Presents research findings and technical reports at internal meetings and conferences, communicating technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
- Participates in industry forums and workshops to stay current on evolving trends and best practices in metallurgical testing and automotive materials.
- Identifies and assesses emerging material technologies and manufacturing processes, evaluating their potential applications and impact on automotive steel component performance.
Technical Skills :
- Metallurgical Testing Techniques - Comprehensive knowledge and experience in conducting a wide range of metallurgical tests, including tensile testing, hardness testing, impact testing, fracture toughness testing, fatigue testing, and microstructural analysis.
- Materials Characterization Techniques - Expertise in using various analytical techniques for material characterization, such as optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and chemical analysis.

- Automotive Steel Material Specifications - Thorough understanding of common steel grades and their properties, including high-strength steels, low-alloy steels, and advanced high-strength steels used in automotive applications.
- Fine Blanking and Precision Machining Processes - Knowledge of manufacturing processes used for producing automotive steel components, including fine blanking, precision machining, and other related processes.
- Quality Management Systems - Familiarity with quality management systems, such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, and their application in material testing and quality assurance procedures.
- Laboratory Equipment Operation - Experience in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment used for metallurgical testing, including tensile testing machines, hardness testers, impact testers, microscopes, and analytical instruments.
