Description :
  • This Trainee position offers an entry-level opportunity to gain practical experience in the Tool Room department of an automotive steel component manufacturing company. The Trainee will work under the guidance of skilled Toolmakers and Technicians, learning essential skills in tooling design, fabrication, manufacturing and maintenance.
  • The individual will be involved in a structured training program designed to develop their understanding of tooling principles, processes, and best practices relevant to the automotive industry.
  • As a Trainee, this individual will contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Tool Room by assisting in the creation, maintenance, and repair of tooling used in the production of high-quality automotive steel components.
Responsibilities :
  • Assist experienced Toolmakers in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of tooling for fine blanking and precision machining processes.
  • Learn and apply various tooling techniques, including CNC programming, milling, grinding, and EDM.
  • Study blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to understand tooling requirements and design parameters.
  • Operate and maintain tooling equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety protocols.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of tooling components, adhering to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to understand tooling requirements and resolve any technical issues.
  • Document tooling specifications, maintenance records, and production data.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and shadowing sessions to acquire practical skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to company safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a professional attitude and work ethic, demonstrating a willingness to learn and contribute.
  • Proactively identify and communicate potential issues or challenges related to tooling.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of quality management systems and relevant industry standards, such as ISO/TS 16949.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of tooling processes, striving for efficiency and cost optimization.
Technical Skills :
  • Tooling Design and Fabrication - Understanding of tooling design principles, materials, and fabrication processes for fine blanking and precision machining applications.
  • CNC Programming and Operation - Basic knowledge of CNC programming languages and experience in operating CNC milling machines, EDM, and other relevant equipment.
  • Tooling Maintenance and Repair - Ability to perform routine inspections, maintenance tasks, and minor repairs on tooling components.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) - Understanding of GD&T principles and their application in tooling specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Blueprints and Technical Drawings - Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Quality Management Systems - Familiarity with ISO/TS 16949 standards and related quality assurance procedures.
Soft Skills :
  • Communication - Effectively communicate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to clarify instructions, report progress, and address issues.
